Q: Who is eligible to sign up for Jr. Laker Basketball?
A: All students in grades K-8 who reside in or attend school in Mountain Lakes or Boonton Township. If programs are close to capacity, residents will have priority over non-resident students.
Q. Why are there caps on the number of children that can enroll in the program?
A: Program capacity is dictated by the number of children that can safely fit into the gym where the program is schedule, as well as the availability of volunteers to coach and supervise each program. Once program registration reaches capacity, Jr. Laker Basketball will start a wait list and where allowed, do our best to bring those kids into the program, on a first come, first serve basis.
Q: What is the refund policy?
A: Refund requests must be received BEFORE the start of the first practice/clinic dates. To request a refund, send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org. Please include the player’s name and registered division. Refunds will be issued in the same form that the payment was received and will be processed within 2 weeks of receipt. The decision to approve or deny a refund request rests solely with JLB Board.
Q: Do you offer a family discount?
A: Yes. The family cost will be capped at $340 in the Rec program
Q: My child is older and better than his/her classmates, can he/she play "up?"
A: Jr. Laker Basketball is a grade-specific, recreational program and does not level players by ability.
Q: What are the requirements to volunteer to coach?
A: All volunteers must pass an annual background check and have completed either the Rutgers SAFETY course or NAYS/NYSCA online coaching course. Jr. Laker Basketball will cover the cost of the training. New for 2021-2022 in accordance with Mountain Lakes Recreation , all volunteers will need to be fingerprinted.
Q: Is there a late registration policy?
A: Please contact the Jr. Laker Basketball Board at email@example.com to inquire about available recreation program openings. Unfortunately, the Board may not be able to accommodate all requests due to the number of participants already registered in a particular program. Accordingly, late registrations will be considered in the sole discretion of the Board. In the event the Board is able to accommodate a late registration request, a graduating late fee will apply.
